Patsy Jean (O'Rourke) Swain, 93, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Thursday September 20, 2012 at Niagara Hospice in Lockport, NY. She was born May 18, 1919 in Quebec, Canada, the daughter of the late William and Mollie (Auld) O'Rourke.
Patsy came to Niagara Falls, NY with her parents at the age of four. She attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1936. Patsy had a long combined work career at Carborundum Company, the former Kings Department Store, the Niagara Falls Police Safety Program and the Caravan Motel all in Niagara Falls, NY. Patsy was an active gardener and enjoyed Bingo and going to the Casino. She also liked bowling and was a member of a bowling team until the age of 92.
Patsy was the wife of the late Charles W. Swain, who died on November 27, 1967. She is survived by her three sons, Charles (Sue) Swain of Clarence, NY; Bruce (Monica) Swain of Grand Island, NY and Gary Swain of Niagara Falls, NY; four grandchildren, Charles Swain, Stephen (Debbie) Swain, Bruce Swain and Paul Swain; two great-grandchildren Brendan and Brody Swain; one sister Mary 'Audrey' Sweatman of Niagara Falls, NY as well as many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by one brother James 'Larry' O'Rourke.
Patsy's family would like to thank the attentive compassionate staff of Niagara Hospice. She will be lovingly missed by her family.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 5 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will be held on Monday September 24th at 10 a.m. with Rev. John Marshall officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Patsy's memory may be made to Niagara Hospice, Inc., 4675 Sunset Drive Lockport, NY 14094.
