Paul D'Angelis, 96, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2020. Born in Oakfield, NY, he was the loving son of the late August and Mary (Cianfrini) D'Angelis; and the beloved husband of Nancy (Trapasso) D'Angelis, whom he married on July 23, 1960 at St. Joseph's Church.
Paul moved to Niagara Falls as a child with his family and was a graduate of Trott Vocational High School. On November 26, 1942, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served as a radarman on the U.S.S Cabot during World War II. Mr. D'Angelis was honorably discharged on March 16, 1946 and awarded the Victory Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the two-star Philippine Liberation Medal, and a six-star Asiatic Pacific Medal for his dedicated and courageous service to our country.
Paul began working as a cabinet maker for Wicker Lumber Company and also was served as a Millwright for the local union. In the early 1970's he opened the Coachman Motel and owned and operated the company alongside his wife for many years.
Paul was an avid Buffalo Bills fan and enjoyed spending time outdoors, particularly tending to his garden. He was also a very devoted family man who always enjoyed a good beer.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Joseph Anthony (Kim) D'Angelis, Paul (Kathy) D'Angelis, Jr., Christopher (Holly) D'Angelis and was predeceased by one daughter, Maria D'Angelis and two grandchildren, Christopher and David D'Angelis. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Lauren and Elizabeth D'Angelis; two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Hunter; his sister Nancy (late John) Mariano, as well as many nieces and nephews. Mr. D'Angelis was also predeceased by three sisters, Rose (Al) DeSimone, Joan (Joseph) DeMarco and Anne Vespa.
Visitation will be on Monday, October 19, 2020 from 11 – 1 P.M. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will follow at 1:00 P.M. Interment with Military Honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14904.
