Paul J. Dorato, Jr, 86 of Lewiston, NY passed away at his home surrounded by his family on January 7, 2018 while under the care of Niagara Hospice.  Born June 18, 1931 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late, Paul and Lena (Janese) Dorato, Sr.

Paul was a lifelong resident of the Niagara Falls area and attended local schools.  He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, and was honorably discharged on March 12, 1954 receiving the National Defense Service Medal.  On February 17, 1961, he married Nancy J. (Smith) Dorato in Niagara Falls, NY.  Paul was employed at Carborundum Abrasives Company for 41 years.  Following his retirement, he continued on working at Gagster's Restaurant and the former Hitching Post Restaurant.

Paul had a love for dancing and was an outstanding tap dancer.  He showcased his talents when he appeared on the Ted Mack Amateur Hour Talent Show on April 8, 1949.  Paul was a sports enthusiast and passionate Cleveland Browns fan.  He also enjoyed golfing, bowling, roller skating, camping and fishing.  He was a member of the Moose Lodge and LaSalle Sportsman Club.  Above all, Paul will be remembered for his great sense of humor, as well as his love and devotion to his family and pets.

In addition to his beloved wife of 56 years, Paul is survived by his five children, Paula Clinton, Paul (Michele) Dorato, III, David Dorato, Christopher (Christine) Dorato and Lisa (Kirk) Dorato-Hallock a, six grandchildren, Brandon, Chelsea, Nicholas, Jessica, Madison and Gianna, his great-grandchildren, one brother Robert (Maryann) Dorato, his beloved dog Luca, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was also predeceased by three brothers and one sister, Frank Dorato, Mike (Margaret) Dorato, Carolyn (late Thomas) Sciortino and George (late Maxine) Dorato.

Visitation will be held on Thursday January 11 ^th from 3-8 p.m. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL 2730 Military Road Niagara Falls, NY where funeral services will follow at 8 p.m., and conclude with Military Honors.  In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive Lockport, NY 14094.
