Obituary

Paul F. Forsyth, 86 formerly of Lewiston, NY passed away on Saturday April 4, 2015 at Harris Hill Nursing Facility in Williamsville, NY. Born in Ogdensburg, NY he was the son of the late John and Blanche (Murray) Forsyth, and step-son of the late Frances (Wagner) Forsyth.

Paul moved to the Western New York area as a teenager with his family. He served in the United States Army during World War II, and was stationed at Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston in Texas as an NP Technician and was honorably discharged in 1948. He attended Canisius College in Buffalo, NY where he received his Bachelor and Master's degrees in Chemistry. Paul began a long career as a chemist and engineer in Niagara Falls at Union Carbide Corporation in 1953. He later worked at Bell Aero Systems, and in 1962 was hired as a supervising engineer at the Carborundum Company. He went on to become a senior research engineer and later manager until his retirement in 1989. Paul was the recipient of four US Patents during his career and had several professional publications. He was also a member of the American Chemical Society, as well as the Elk's Lodge, and was an avid stamp collector and fisherman.

Mr. Forsyth was predeceased by his first wife Mildred L. (Schmidle) Forsyth. He is survived by his wife of thirty-five years, Emily (Klak) Forsyth, his children, Alan J. (Janice) Forsyth of Chattanooga, TN, Daniel (Donna) Forsyth, Esq., of Lewiston, NY, Barbara A. (Dr. Joseph) McDonald of Sudbury, MA, Mary Lou Forsyth of Lisbon, NH, and was predeceased by two sons, Thomas Forsyth and Robert Forsyth. He is also survived by his step-children, Dr. John P. (Kathleen) Lazarus of Clarence Center, NY, David A. (Untika) Lazarus of Tacoma, WA, Donald M. Lazarus of Gouverneur, NY and Kenneth A. (Alison McCaffree) Lazarus of Tacoma, WA, his grandchildren, Paul Forsyth, Esq., Dr. Colleen (Scott) Forsyth Macmurdo, Danielle Forsyth, Ian Forsyth, Colin Forsyth, Joseph McDonald, Katherine McDonald, Shannon McDonald and Dane Lazarus, one brother Raymond (late Janice) Forsyth of Wilson, NY , as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road Niagara Falls, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday April 10th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent De Paul Parish at St. Leo's Church 2748 Military Road Niagara Falls, NY. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of WNY 2805 Wehrle Dr. Suite 6 Williamsville, NY 14221.
