Paul A. Pescrillo, 84, of Niagara Falls, NY died on Sunday February 12, 2012 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Ralph and Mary (Mastromatteo) Pescrillo.
Paul was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY. He attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School, where was also a member of their basketball team. During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy. On September 5, 1949 he married Theresa (Lyman) Pescrillo. Mrs. Pescrillo predeceased him in 1995. He began working as a milkman prior to becoming a firefighter for the City of Niagara Falls. Paul served the community from Fire Station #9, #2, and Royal Avenue Station, and during that time he also worked at the former Leeds Jewelers in Niagara Falls. Paul was active with the Niagara Falls Fire Department's Junior Olympics Program, the annual firefighters' ball and the firefighters' reunions. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1411 on Ward Road in Wheatfield, NY. In his leisure time, Paul enjoyed bowling, golfing, dancing, camping and traveling.
Mr. Pescrillo is survived by five children David (Rosie) Pescrillo of West Henrietta, NY; Denise Stockman of Cincinnati, OH; Gary Pescrillo of Hagerstown, MD; Susan (Terry McBride) Neuland of Thomasville, PA; and Sandra (Armand) DeBan of Niagara Falls, NY. He was predeceased by two sons Richard Pescrillo and Dennis Pescrillo. Paul is also survived by his longtime companion, Corky Rotella, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, two sisters and one brother Angie (late Joseph) Ingro of Florida, Leonard Pescrillo of Niagara Falls, NY; Gerry Thornhill of Florida, and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by one brother Sal Pescrillo.
Visitation will be on Wednesday and Thursday from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Friday February 17th at 10:00 AMat St. Stephen Episcopal Church, 616 Cayuga Drive, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Isaac Ihiasota officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment with military honors in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
