Peter J. Brownell, Sr., 86, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY, on May 8, 2024. Born in Salamanca, NY, he was the son of the late Earl and Doris (O'Hern) Brownell and the step-son of the late Virginia (Dickenson) Brownell.

Peter proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, deploying to Korea from 1960 until his honorable discharge in 1962. He married the love of his life, Patricia L. (DiNoto) Brownell on August 29, 1964 at St. Joseph's Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Peter worked as a millwright for Goodyear Chemical for almost 40 years, retiring in 1995.

Peter was very active in many organizations. He was involved with the 3-F Club in Youngstown.  He also served as a volunteer EMT for the Eastern Bicycle Association. He was quite the car lover and an avid NASCAR fan. One of Peter's favorite things was simply being outdoors, whether he was getting some yard work done or skeet shooting. He also enjoyed crossword puzzles to keep his mind sharp. More than anything else, Peter will be remembered as a devoted family man with a good soul and a heart of gold.

In addition to his wife of 59 years, Peter is survived by his son, Peter J. (Deborah) Brownell, Jr.; his sister-in-law, Charlene Perez; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Penelope (late Ken) Wildman and his sister-in-law, Carol (late Michael) Cumbo.

Funeral services will be held privately at the request of Peter's family with interment with Military Honors in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Lewiston, NY.
