Peter J.
Magliarditi
d. Aug 20, 2026
It breaks our hearts to announce the sudden passing of our loving father. Peter J. Magliarditi, 65, of Lewiston, NY, passed away on Day 23774. (August 20, 2026) in Niagara Falls, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, he was the son of Joseph and the late Josephine (Ciraolo) Magliarditi.
If you knew Peter, you know he was truly an original. If you didn’t, you’re about to. He always lived life on his own terms. To the tune of the Addams Family theme song: “We do what we wanna do, say what we wanna say, The Magliarditis.”
After his voluntary exit from Lewiston Porter High School, he worked with his family at Niagara Novelty. He then cofounded Vision Vending with his father. He introduced the first CD jukeboxes to the Niagara region, feel free to argue about the details. From a young age he was filled with an entrepreneurial spirit. He founded Catalog Mountain, an information hub for other entrepreneurs. In the early 2000s, together with his loving mother and aunt, he shared their family recipes with the community through Ciraolo Sisters Renaissance Deli. For the past seven years, he took Uber to the next level. He interviewed his clients, provided them “in-flight” entertainment, and upgraded many to private loyal clients, and later friends. If he drove you anywhere, I bet you remember. He loved the freedom to work any hours, provide a service, and interact with people from all walks of life.
Peter was a self-proclaimed creative genius, penniless poet, and activist. He never claimed to be perfect, but he’d say he was right “99.99% of the time.” Final calculations are still pending. He spent much of his life writing, always exploring new ideas and expressing himself through words. Inventive by nature, he loved to innovate and imagine possibilities. From an early age, Peter loved to document and catalog all aspects of life, beginning with the Day Tapes. He was a lover of tools in all forms, from the binder clip to the smartphone; and spoons, because spoons always work. A creative person and lifelong music lover, Peter enjoyed filming, documentary making and art in all forms. He made the best mixed tapes with unique transitions, that included sound clips of friends, strangers, movies and tv shows.
Above all, Peter cherished his family, and treasured every moment spent with them. To his children, grandsons, and nieces, he always encouraged them to think for themselves, challenge the status quo, and practice peace, love, and understanding. His grandkids looked up to him. He loved teaching them about life, the universe, and everything. To them, he was called Shakabuku.
“You have free will. Use your free will. Reject the brainwash. The only thing you have to do, is die.”
Time for some name drops. Sorry if you didn’t make the cut, we’re distraught. In addition to his father, Peter is survived by his children, Basil (Rachel) Magliarditi and Jessica (Matt) Jakubowski; his grandchildren, Jude Magliarditi, Edwin Jakubowski, and Charlie Jakubowski; his sister, Maria Certo; his former spouse, Betsy Eagan; his nieces, Amanda Certo (Andres Pachon) and Alisa Certo; his cousins Carolyn (John) Herowski, David (Daniel) Marra; his aunt, Mary (late Hank) Corsaro; his uncle, John (late Kathy) Magliarditi; as well as many cousins, friends, and foes.
A Celebration of Peter’s Life will be held at a later date. We encourage everyone to share your favorite Peter story on his Facebook page. We would love to read it. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the Lewiston Public Library, https://www.lewistonpubliclibrary.org/friends/. Arrangements by M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel.
