Peter C. Ozzimo, 72, of Niagara Falls, NY entered peacefully into rest, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY.
Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Carmen and Mary (Nero) Ozzimo.
Peter was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY.
He attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School.
He served in the United States Air Force as an Airman First Class from October 21, 1959 until his honorable discharge on August 16, 1963.
He was employed as a Supervisor at the Occidental Chemical Company in Niagara Falls, NY until his retirement after thirty five years of service.
Peter was an outstanding bowler and bowled ten perfect 300 games throughout his lifetime.
In 2004 his achievements were recognized when he was inducted into the Niagara Falls Bowling Hall of Fame.
Peter was also sports enthusiast and avid fan of the New York Yankees.
In his leisure time, he enjoyed traveling, gardening and cooking, and was especially known for his stuffed hot peppers.
Peter's greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.
Mr. Ozzimo is the dear father of, Priscilla Schultz of Newfane, NY, Jackie (Dan) Cavaretta of Tonawanda, NY and late Carrie Ann Ozzimo.
He is also survived by his two granddaughters, Brianna Schultz and Melissa Schultz; two sisters Karen (late Anthony) Salciccioli of Grand Island, NY and Gae Neuman of St. Joseph, MN; his loving companion Toni Shaffer, one aunt Clara (late Larry) Ligammare as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and his Beloved Dog Mia.
He was also predeceased by his wife Patricia Ozzimo and one sister Cynthia Ozzimo A special thank you to Peter's former wife Marilyn Haseley.
Visitation will be on Friday from 2 – 5 and 7 – 9 p.m. at the
M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday April 5
th
at 10 a.m. in St. Vincent De Paul Parish at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 N. Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Robert Hughson officiating.
Entombment with Military Honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society, 101 John James Audubon Parkway, Amherst, NY
