Peter H. Simon, 78, of Grand Island, NY, passed away on March 5, 2021 at his residence under the care of Buffalo Hospice.  Born in Steindorf, Germany, he was the son of the late Herman and Elsie (Diehl) Simon.

Peter came to the United States with his family as a child.  He served in the United States Army from 1961 until his honorable discharge in 1964.  Peter attended the University of Buffalo, graduating in 1974 with a PhD in International Studies, and was also a member of their Crew team.

From 1972 until 1981, Peter was employed as the Plant Manager for J.D. Calato Manufacturing.  From 1980 until 2020, he was the President of Precision Hardwood Products.  On November 22, 2003, he married Carmelina (Giancola) Simon in Niagara Falls.   Peter enjoyed golfing, skiing, being outdoors, and travelling.

In addition to his wife of 17 years, Peter is survived by his siblings, Robert (Connie) Zacher, Roseanne Mejia, and Heidi (Lenny) Schreiber, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was the brother-in-law of Mario Giancola and Rose (Michael) Tucker.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 10 from 4 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304, where funeral services will begin at 7 PM, concluding with Military Honors.  Private entombment in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Kenmore, NY.  If desired, memorial offerings may be made to Buffalo Hospice or to Roswell Park Cancer Institute.  Visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com for online condolences.
