Prominent Local Businessman

Peter N. Stranges, 87, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2014, at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Born in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada he was the son of the late Antonio and Maria (Biamonte) Stranges.

Peter came to Niagara Falls, NY as a child with his family and attended local schools including the former Trott Vocational High School. During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy stationed aboard PT Boats in the Philippines. Peter was a prominent businessman owning and operating various tourist establishments. These included the Antique Auto Museum and Circus World on Clifton Hill, as well several restaurants in the Niagara Falls, Ontario area. Peter also owned The Uptowner Motel, Boat and Bus Tours and The Haunted House all located in Niagara Falls, NY.

Peter enjoyed mushroom hunting and winemaking with his father. He also liked gardening and making his award-winning sopressata, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends. Peter will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved him as a generous and caring brother, uncle, cousin and friend.

Peter is survived by three sisters Rose Stranges, Betty (Francis) DiFrancesco and Rosemarie Stranges all of Niagara Falls, NY; his nieces and nephews Michael (Mary Jo) DiFrancesco of Lewiston, NY; Donna (Gerry) Tourot of Grand Island, NY; Mark (Bridget) DiFrancesco and Peter (Jan) DiFrancesco both of Niagara Falls, NY and several great nieces, great nephews and cousins in Ontario, Canada.

Visitation will be on Saturday June 7th from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Stewart Lindsay OSFS, officiating. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. Flowers are graciously declined.
