Philip A. D'Andreamatteo, Sr., 79, of the Town of Niagara, passed away on Monday July 30, 2012 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Candeloro and Dominica (Palmeri) D'Andreamattea.
Philip was a lifelong resident of the Niagara Falls area. He attended local schools and graduated from the former Trott Vocational High School. During the Korean War he served in the U.S. Army as a Corporal from December 4, 1952 until his honorable discharge on November 3, 1954 and was awarded a Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and a National Defense Service Medal. Philip was employed as a ceramic fiber operator at Carborundum in Niagara Falls, NY for over forty two years until he retired. He enjoyed dining out at local restaurants and tending to his tomato garden. He was also an avid sports fan and a fan of the Buffalo Sabres. Philip's greatest pleasure in life was his children and grandchildren who he enjoyed spending time with.
Philip is survived by his wife Caroline (Colosi) D'Andreamatteo, one son Philip D'Andreamatteo, Jr. of Titusville, FL; three daughters Cindy (Michael) Olszewski, Terri D'Andreamatteo both of Niagara Falls, NY and Lisa (Michael) Scerra of Hamburg, NY and was predeceased by three infant children. He is also survived by six grandchildren Chanel, Christina, Michael, Philip III, Marina, Michael Anthony, one great grandchild Ibiria D'Andreamatteo and his nephew Anthony Spendio. Philip is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as his dear friend Florence White of Niagara Falls, NY. Mr. D'Andreamatteo was the brother of the late Jenny (Tony) Spendio.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 3 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Friday August 3rd at 10 a.m. in St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 616 Cayuga Drive, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Isaac Ihiasota officiating, concluding with Military Honors. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH.
