Philip Friona, 80, of Plantation, Florida, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on September 20 th , 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Philip was the son of the late Philip & Esterine Friona.
Philip was honorably discharged after serving in the United States Air Force and loved his country. Philip was actively involved in the heavy construction industry for 60 years with controlling interest in the former Friona Bros. Trucking of Niagara Falls, New York and Charlie Frymyer Paving of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Philip enjoyed thoroughbred horse racing as an owner, a passion he shared with his children while managing Three Sisters Stable. Phil was also a loyal Bills & Yankee Fan. He was a long standing member of the Republican Party and a philanthropist in many charities.
Philip is survived by his four children, Teri, Philip (Gina Fera), Paula (Robert Cheff), and Mary (Scott Celani). Twelve grandchildren; Jessica, Michael, Erica, Angela, Farrah, Nicole, Jamie, Jimmy, Alexa, Maria, Emma and Ella Grace; One great grandson Ayden, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many devoted friends. He was predeceased by two sisters, Maryann Friona and Fedina (Alan) Elia.
There will be no prior visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 13 at 10 AM at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph at St. Joseph's Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY 14301. Interment at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Flowers are graciously declined, donations may be made in Philip's honor to The Wounded Warriors Project at woundedwarriorsproject.org. Arrangements by M.J.
