Phyllis A. (Zafuto) Valenti, 96 of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on April 12, 2017 at Niagara Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born in Punxsutawney, PA she was the daughter of the late Charles and Rose Zafuto and step-daughter of the late Charles Bordino.
Phyllis came to the Niagara Falls area as a young child with her family. She attended local schools and on April 26, 1943 married Louis P. Valenti. Mr. Valenti predeceased her on December 9, 1963. During World War II, Phyllis worked at the Carborundum Company. Afterwards she was employed by the Niagara Falls Board of Education and Hilton Hotel as the laundry department supervisor. Phyllis enjoyed cooking, playing bingo and in her younger years, was an avid bowler.
Mrs. Valenti is survived by two children, Diane (Keith) Miller-DePrey of Niagara Falls and James L. (Aida D.) Valenti of Rockport, TX, three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, one sister Josephine (late Joseph) Pulli, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by one granddaughter, Monique Hopkins, one great-granddaughter, Nicole Brown two brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 17 th from 2 - 5 P.M. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls where funeral services will follow at 5:00 P.M. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
