Raymond S. Fadel, "Moe", 92, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away Monday February 2, 2015 at Schoellkopf Health Care Center in Niagara Falls, NY after a brief illness. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Charles and Rasheede (Mokhiber) Fadel.
Moe attended local schools and graduated from Trott Vocational High School. During World War II served in the United States Army from September 22, 1940 until September 21, 1941 and served again from December 1, 1942 until January 5, 1946. He was awarded the American Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and World War II Victory Medal. Moe achieved the rank of sergeant and served as a tank commander under General George S. Patton, who he had the privilege to meet. On September 19, 1948 he married Lillian A. (Abdallah) Fadel in Binghamton, NY. Moe owned the Ontario Food Shop and later worked as production planner at Union Carbide, both in Niagara Falls, NY. He also worked part-time at the Wedge Coffee Shop for many years in addition to his full time job, where he enjoyed meeting people. Moe was an avid walker, and especially enjoyed walking around Goat Island in Niagara Falls. He was also an active and dedicated member of St. George Antiochian Church, and enjoyed spending time with his family. Moe was also a Detroit Tigers fan.
In addition to his wife of sixty-six years, Moe is survived by a daughter, Kathy Fadel of Niagara Falls, NY; a grandson, Raymond Fadel, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Norman Fadel; a grandson, James Fadel; a sister, Bernice (late Alfonse) Tomasian; and three brothers, Chester (late Marguerite) Fadel, Lewis (late Teresa) Fadel, and Norman Fadel.
Visitation will be Friday from 2 – 4 & 7 -9 PM at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 1073 Saunders Settlement Rd. Niagara Falls, NY where funeral services will be held on Saturday February 7th at 11:00 AM with Very Rev. Paul Solberg, officiating. The Trisagion service will be held Friday at 8:00 PM. Interment with military honors in Oakwood Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. George Antiochian Church. Arrangements by M.J.
