Ricardo J. "Dick" Ross, Sr., 76, of Niagara Falls, NY died on Thursday July 16, 2009 at his residence while under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Anthony and Concetta (Trunzo) Rossi. On March 31, 1951 he married Beverly A. (Pullo) Ross at Sacred Heart Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Mrs. Ross predeceased him on October 8, 2006.

Dick was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls and attended local schools. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from November 17, 1952 until his honorable discharge on October 20, 1954, and was awarded the Korean Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star, United Nations Service Medal and National Defense Medal. For several years Dick worked for Elia Construction Company and was later employed as a bus driver for the Niagara Frontier Transit Authority until his retirement in 1995 after over thirty years of service. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council and the I.S.D.A. (Italian Sons and Daughters of America) Power City Lodge in Niagara Falls, NY. Dick was avid N.Y. Yankees fan. He also enjoyed horse racing, playing bocce and crossword puzzles. Mr. Ross will be remembered for his devotion to his job, and kindness to all the neighborhood children.

Mr. Ross is survived by his two children Jacqueline "Jackie" (Timothy) Slattery and Ricardo J. "Rick" Ross, Jr. both of Niagara Falls, NY; three grandchildren, Kathleen Slattery, Jeremy Slattery and Tamara Gioannini, one brother James (Elizabeth) Ross of Niagara Falls, NY several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. He was the brother-in-law of, Rose Marie (late Philip) Reynolds of St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, Angeline (Joseph) Jacob, Robert (Raffaela) Pullo and Evelyn (late Michael) Pullo all of Niagara Falls, NY. He was also predeceased by three brothers Philip (Violet of Wilson, NY) Ross, Armand "Mondo" (Mary of Pendleton, NY) Ross and Jack (Carrie of Las Vegas, NV) Ross.

Friends may call on Saturday from 6 – 8 p.m. and on Sunday from 3 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Monday July 20th at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Julio M. Ciavaglia CRSP, officiating. Interment will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
