Richard F. Alvarez, 56, of the Town of Niagara, NY, died on Tuesday October 26, 2010 at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of Lillian D. (Craig) Alvarez of Niagara Falls, NY and the late Alfred Alvarez.

Richard was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY. He attended local schools and graduated from the former Trott Vocational High School. From 1973 until 1977 he was employed at Rebco Steel and from 1978 until 2001 he worked as a crane operator at Union Carbide both in Niagara Falls. Richard had a passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles and also enjoyed boating. Richard's family wishes to express a special thank you to the doctors and staff of Roswell Park Cancer Institute for their excellent skill and compassionate care.

In addition to his mother, Richard is survived by one son Richard Alvarez Jr. of Niagara Falls, NY; one granddaughter Alyssa Alvarez, two brothers Ronald (Jeanette) Alvarez and Gary Alvarez both of Niagara Falls, NY; one sister Tina Marie Naus of Niagara Falls, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by one brother Jeffrey Alvarez.

Friends may call on Thursday October 28th from 4 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. with Rev. Patrick Bradley officiating. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute, P.O.
