Richard J. Chick, 59, of Niagara Falls, NY died on Monday August 31, 2009 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of Mary (Bonaro) Chick of Niagara Falls, NY and the late Leo L. Chick.
Richard, a lifelong resident of the Niagara Falls area, attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Wheatfield High School. In 1969 he married Harriet Langer at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Niagara Falls. He was employed at North American Hoganas, formerly known as Pyron, in Niagara Falls, NY and retired in 2008 after thirty seven years of service. During that time he was a member and served as president of the United Steel Workers Union Local 9436. Richard was also a member of the LaSalle Sportsman Club in the Town of Niagara and director of their youth group activities. An avid outdoorsman, he especially enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons at his camp in Cuba, NY. But most of all, Richard loved spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of forty years, Mr. Chick is survived by two sons Paul (Lorna) Chick of the Philippines and Joseph (Debbie) Chick of Niagara Falls, NY; five grandchildren Chelsea, Chrystle, Brianna, Samantha and Joseph, one brother Joseph Chick of Cuba, NY; one sister Donna (Bill) Little of Niagara Falls, NY; one niece, four nephews and his brother-in-law Patrick (Susan) Langer of Davenport, FL.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 – 8 p.m. at M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Thursday September 3rd at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Vincent De Paul Parish at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 N. Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
