Richard Stephen Kavanaugh, 75, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away peacefully at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY on November 9th, 2024.  Born in Niagara Falls, he was the son of the late Paul and Margaret (McQuillan) Kavanaugh.  He was married for 48 years to Rose (Muto) Kavanaugh, who predeceased him on May 21, 2021.

Rick retired from Washington Mills in 2010 after a 39-year career. He served proudly in the United States Army serving in Vietnam from 1966 until his honorable discharge in 1969.  He was an active member of the American Legion Post 381 and V.F.W. Post 917. Rick was an avid golfer, enjoyed meticulously maintaining his lawn, and working on his tan. A skilled handyman and roofer, Rick was often generously helping family and friends with various projects.

Rick is survived by his children, Jason Kavanaugh of South Bay, FL, Shannon Gonzalez, and Michael (Danielle) Kavanaugh of Niagara Falls, NY, his four granddaughters Madison, Miquel, Carmyn and Kennedy; his siblings Paul (Michelle) Kavanaugh of Sun City, FL, James Kavanaugh, Gail Kavanaugh, Joan Kavanaugh Piasecki of Niagara Falls, and Patricia Kavanaugh of Roanoke, VA; his brothers in law Dave Foster, Guy (Laurie) and Fred (Lynn) Muto, several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his siblings Linda Foster, Beth Trifiletti, John and Gary Kavanaugh.

Per Rick's wishes, there will be no prior visitation or funeral services.  A private celebration of Rick's life will be held at the convenience of the family.  If desired, memorial offerings may be made to the Buffalo Veterans Administration, 3495 Bailey Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14215-1129.  Arrangements by M.J.
