Rita M. Favero, 96, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on August 21, 2026 at Buffalo General Hospital in Buffalo, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, she was the daughter of the late Matthew and Concetta (Mongelluzo) Yorio.

On September 3, 1949, Rita married William F. Favero at Sacred Heart Church in Niagara Falls. Mr. Favero predeceased her on April 5, 2011.

Rita was a former member of St. Charles Borromeo Church, where she served faithfully on the Altar and Rosary Society, St. Vincent de Paul Society, and the Social Committee. In 2007, she was honored with the Harold des Pres Diocesan Award for her unselfish works of kindness and dedicated community service. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing cards. Above all, Rita cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great‑grandchildren.

Rita is survived by her daughters, Vickie (Mickey) Suitor, Bobbie (Joseph) Fricano, Gail (Brian) Smith, and Lorna (late Bob) Krulisky; her 12 grandchildren; her 22 great‑grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband of 62 years, she was predeceased by her children, Gary Favero and William (Karen) Favero; her grandson, Victor (Melissa) Favero and her siblings, Norma (late Salvatore) Ruggerio, Louise (late George) McMahon, Mary (late John) Lozinsky, Louis Yorio, Josephine (late Woody) Tweed, and Rosemary Yorio.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 23 from 2 – 5 PM at M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14304. Rita’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 24 at 9 AM at St. Leo’s Church, 2748 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14304. Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
