Obituary

Rita (Viola) Tardibuono, 84, loving wife of Joseph M. Tardibuono, of Niagara Falls, N.Y. entered into eternal peace on Monday July 14, 2014 under the loving care of her family and Niagara Hospice.

Born June of 1930 in Amantea, Calabria, Italy to the late Antonio and Sara (Valentino) Viola. Rita arrived at Ellis Island with her family in 1949 and soon settled in her forever home of Niagara Falls, N.Y.

Rita and her husband, Joe, are two of the original proprietors of Viola's Submarine Shop of Niagara Falls since 1958. She was devoted to the family business and enjoyed all aspects of daily operations, especially in the kitchen. Rita enjoyed gardening, traveling, shopping, the Buffalo Sabres, the casino, playing Bingo, cooking and her two beloved dogs, Roxy and Gino. Most of all, her passion was spending time with her family and instilling Italian traditions to her admiring children and grandchildren. Rita had a presence that captivated all. She was able to bring love and joy to those who knew her. She will be sadly missed but her memory will always live on.

Rita is survived by her husband of 62 years, Joseph M. Tardibuono and their six children, Sandy (Paul) Ranaletti of Wheatfield, Rose (Bob) Bradfield of Niagara Falls, Sarah (Scott) Gregory of Niagara Falls, Thomas Tardibuono of Niagara Falls, Peter (Michelle) Tardibuono of Niagara Falls, and Gina (Michael) Corbelli of Batavia; twenty-two grandchildren Dina (Tony) Gigliotti, Andrew Ranaletti, Kristina (Kevin) McGee, Shelly (Dan) Weiss, Bobby Bradfield, Robin (Carmin) Trigilio, Rachel Gregory, Joe Tardibuono, Anthony Tardibuono, Joey Canzoneri, Michael Canzoneri, Nick Canzoneri, Maria Canzoneri, Sarah (Rocco) DellaPenna, Tess (Joseph) Garland, Cara Corbelli, Nicholas Corbelli, Christopher Corbelli, Michael (Nina) Tardibuono Colangelo, Thomas Tardibuono, Kari Tardibuono and Chelsea Tardibuono; five great-grandchildren Brooklynn McGee, Connor McGee, Mariano Weiss, Isabella Weiss and Carmin Trigilio III. She is the sister of Alex (late Ida) Viola of Farmingville, NY, Frank (Costanza) Viola of Niagara Falls, NY and Olindo (Janet) Viola of Redlands, CA. She was predeceased by siblings, Pasquale (late Rose) Viola, Sam (late Mary) Viola, Ida (late Saverio) Naccarato, Ottavio Viola and Amedeo Viola. Rita is also loved by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 18th at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL 2730 MILITARY ROAD NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Saturday July 19th at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. Vincent de Paul Parish at Prince of Peace Church 1055 North Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev.
