Robert Alexander DeMita, 34, of Grand Island, NY, passed away unexpectedly on November 9, 2025, in Lockport, NY. Born in Largo, FL, he was the beloved son of Robert J. DeMita and Ginger (nee McNeil) (John) Bidell.

Robert was a graduate of Grand Island High School and went on to study criminal justice at Niagara County Community College. He worked in various capacities within the insurance industry, including positions at Independent Health and Fidelis. Most recently, he was employed by Aither Health Care in Buffalo, NY, as a customer service representative.

A passionate gamer and avid reader, Robert found joy in streaming and connecting with friends online. He was known for his intelligence, kindness, great sense of humor and deep love for his family—especially his cherished nephews, with whom he shared a special bond.

In addition to his parents, Robert is survived by his siblings, Nicholas (Cassandra) DeMita and Alexandra (John) Corsaro; step-siblings, John Bidell, Jr. and Amy (Issac) DeRego; and his beloved nephews, Sonny, Julian, and Jude. He is also survived by his maternal grandparents, Jane (Jim) Spayde and Paul (Becky) McNeil; aunts and uncles, Michelle DeMita, Roseanne (Rick) Ianni, Mario (Jennifer) DeMita, Annette (John) Zaroian, Mary (David) Blankenberg, Krickett (David) Kuntz, and Candie (Michael) Huff; along with many cousins and dear friends.  He was predeceased by his aunt, Joanne DeMita, and his paternal grandparents, Mario and Anntoinette DeMita.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 14, from 4 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304, where funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 10:30 AM.
