Obituary

Robert 'Bob' E. O'Kane, III, 80, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 14, 2024. Born in Wheeling, WV, he was the son of the late John and Anne (Conrad) O'Kane.

Bob was raised in West Virginia where he attended local schools and graduated from high school. While attending Wheeling Jesuit University, he met the love of his life, Patricia Rockwood. They were married on June 12, 1965 at Holy Comforter Catholic Church in Charlottesville, VA. Following their marriage, they joined the Peace Corps and settled in India together for two years.

Upon arriving home from the Peace Corps, Bob and Patricia lived in Rochester, NY for several years. He began working at the Dollinger Company prior to his employment with General Electric. In 1993, Bob and his family relocated to Watertown, NY for a brief period and later moved to Plano, TX in 1996 after taking a position at Henderson International. For the last 25 years, Bob and Patricia lived in Niagara Falls, NY and he retired from Nuttall Gear after a prideful career.

Bob was a longtime member of the Holy Name Society and current parishioner of Mt. Carmel Church in Niagara Falls, where he was also a member of their choir. He was also a former parishioner of St. Pius X Church in Buffalo, NY.

Bob and Patricia belonged to the Newport Yacht Club in Rochester for many years and enjoyed sailing on Lake Ontario. He was an excellent guitar player and enjoyed the outdoors. Above all, Bob cherished the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife of 59 years, he is survived by his children, Robert (Christiane) O'Kane IV, Ann (Scott) Borges, Ryan (Holly) O'Kane, Kiera (Gene) Hartman, Jeffery (Jean) O'Kane, Kathleen (Dwayne) Thompson and Patrick (Nicole) O'Kane; his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Erin, Lauren, Nathan, Charlie, Ilja, Tyler, Jessica, Ian, Zoe, Hailey, Melissa, Dylan, Evelyn, Desmond, Emmett; his siblings, Mare (Harry) Lutz, John (late Eileen) O'Kane, Rita (Mike) Weisman and Peggy O'Kane, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his wife's grandparents, Dr. William S. (late Ann) Hartigan.
