Robert J. "R.J." Baker, Jr., 60, of Derby, NY passed away on Tuesday March 31, 2009 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Buffalo, NY he was the son of the late Robert J. Baker, Sr. and Mary L. Branson.
R.J. moved to Derby, NY seven years ago from the Niagara Falls, NY area. He married Theresa A. (Simone) Baker in July of 2000 at Zion Lutheran Church, Niagara Falls, NY. R.J. enjoyed travelling and gaming in Las Vegas. He was a sports enthusiast, and an avid follower of the Buffalo Bills. During the Vietnam War he served in the US Army and despite injuries resulting from service to his country, was known for his great sense of humor. In his free time, R.J. would volunteer for the National Kidney Foundation in Buffalo, NY and also at the C.O.P.I.N House on Buffalo Ave, Niagara Falls, NY.
In addition to his wife, R.J. is survived by six sisters and three brothers; Mary (Late Karl) McIntyre of Angola, NY; Linda (late Eugene) Zak of West Seneca, NY; Judy (Wayne) Clark of Cheektowaga, NY; Kathy (Mike) Uliaszek of Angola; Gilbert (Cheryl) Baker of New Hampshire; Debbie (Jim) Mangold of Arkansas; Susan (Brian) Campbell of Angola; Tim Baker of Eden, NY and Matthew (Durea) Baker of Angola, NY; his mother-in-law Roberta Simone of Niagara Falls, NY; brother-in-law Jeffrey (Jennifer) Simone of Virginia and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother-in-law James Simone.
Friends may call on Friday from 3-8pm at the M.J.COLUCCI AND SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL 2730 MILITARY ROAD NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will be held on Saturday April 4th, 2009 at 9:15am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY.
