Robert J. Kanski, 81, of Cheektowaga, NY, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2026, at Bristol Village in Clarence, NY.
Born in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of the late Richard and Irene (Zolnowska) Kanski; and the beloved husband of 57 years to the late Judith A. (Rogalski) Kanski.
Raised on the East Side of Buffalo, Bob graduated from high school before proudly enlisting in the United States Army, serving his country during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge in 1970, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal with two campaign stars in recognition of his dedicated military service.
Bob worked for many years at General Motors in Lockport, NY, retiring in 2005 after a long and successful career. A devoted man of faith, he was an active parishioner of the former St. Barnabas Church in Depew.
Bob had a lifelong passion for model train sets and took great pride in his collection. He also cherished the annual Disney vacations he shared with his family, a tradition that began in 1973 and continued for decades. He was grateful to have enjoyed one final Disney trip in 2023 alongside his wife and family.
Above all, he was a devoted family man who especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Michelle (Christopher) Kieser; his two grandchildren, Morgan and Joshua Kieser; his brothers, Richard (Velma) Kanski and William (Debbie) Kanski; as well as several nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his brother, Frederick Kanski.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 8, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Barron-Miller Funeral Home, 3025 William Street, Cheektowaga, NY 14227, where funeral services will begin on Monday, November 9, at 9:00 AM, followed by Robert's Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Queen of Heaven Church, 839 Mill Road, West Seneca, NY 14224.
