Robert G. Longhine, 82, of Niagara Falls, NY died on Thursday January 28, 2010 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late John and Mattea (Fracaro) Longhine.

Robert was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY. He attended local schools and graduated from the former Trott Vocational High School. On June 21, 1952 he married Rosemarie (DePaul) Longhine at St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. Mr. Longhine was employed at General Motors Power Train in Tonawanda, NY and retired in 1989 after twenty eight years of service. He served in the United States Navy as a Seaman First Class with the 61st Naval Construction Battalion from July 20, 1945 until his honorable discharge on July 1, 1946 and was the recipient of a Victory Medal, an American Theatre Medal and an Asiatic Pacific Medal. Following his discharge he served in the Naval Reserve for an additional seven years. Mr. Longhine was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 247 in Niagara Falls, NY; Our Lady of Fatima Shrine 13th of the Month Club, Niagara Travel Club, Cristoforo Colombo Society, Power City Lodge as well as several area senior organizations. Robert enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and friends. But his greatest pleasure was spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife of fifty seven years, Mr. Longhine is survived by one daughter Diane (John "Fred") Lever of Niagara Falls, NY; three grandchildren Jeffrey Lever, David (Kari) Lever and Rosemarie Lever, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Rosalie and Hugo Visentin of Niagara Falls, Ontario, niece Debra Visentin of Niagara Falls, Ontario and several cousins. He was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters, John Longhine, Peter Longhine, Dominick Longhine, Nellie Biscaro, Angeline Ellis and Emma Whitworth.

Friends may call on Sunday from 2 – 6 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday February 1st at 10 a.m. in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 27th Street and Independence Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Duane R. Klizek officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE IN CHURCH Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
