Obituary

Robert I. Newton, MSgt. USAF, retired, 76, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away Friday April 8, 2011 at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Buffalo, NY.


Bob was born in Clay, NY and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict from September 28, 1951 until his honorable discharge on September 27, 1955. Bob finished his military service in the Air Force National Guard, completing a total of over 26 years, and achieving the rank of Master Sergeant with the 914th and 107th at the Niagara Falls Air Force Base. He was also involved with civil engineering and served as Unit Career Advisor for the 107th. He worked as a millwright at Ferro Inc., formerly TAM Ceramics, in Niagara Falls, NY for over fifty years until his retirement in 2006.


In addition to his wife of over forty-seven years, Gladys Jean (Steele) Newton, Bob is survived by his four children Keith L. Newton, Wayne E. Newton, Glenn A. Newton, and Elaine M. Newton, all of Niagara Falls, NY. He was the son-in-law of Gladys (late George) Steele of Niagara Falls, NY, and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.


Visitation will be Tuesday 6 – 9 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY RD. NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services to be held Wednesday April 13th at 10:00 AM at Niagara Presbyterian Church, 3712 Military Rd., Town of Niagara, NY with Rev. Justin L. Marple officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment with Military Honors in Acacia Park Cemetery, North Tonawanda, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
