Robert J. Pfleger, 92, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Tuesday September 24, 2013 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY after a long illness. Born February 2, 1921in Minneapolis, MN he was the son of the late George F. and Etta E. (Zimmer) Pfleger, Sr.

Robert moved to the Buffalo, NY area in the mid 1930's and later attended the University of Buffalo where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree, and was a member of their Alumni Association. He served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged on October 11, 1951. In October 1968, Robert married Elizabeth M. (Certo) Pfleger and moved to Niagara Falls where her currently resided. For over thirty years. Bob worked in the Commercial Sales Division of the U.S. Steel Corporation in Buffalo, NY until his retirement in 1983. Robert was an avid golfer and member of the Niagara Frontier Country Club in Youngstown, NY. Bob also enjoyed his daily workouts at the YMCA, and traveling extensively with his wife Elizabeth, especially to one of their most memorable trips, the Panama Canal.

In addition to his wife of forty four years, Mr. Pfleger is survived by two children, Suzanne Pfleger of Tonawanda, NY and Jeffrey A. Pfleger of Colorado Springs, CO; one granddaughter Emily Pfleger of Tonawanda, NY, his sister-in-law Mary Morinello Rolle of Lewiston, NY and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, George F. (late Alice) Pfleger, Jr. and brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Ken (late Katie) Certo, Margaret (late Frank) (late Palmer) Serianni, Albert (Josephine of Niagara Falls, NY) Certo, Henry (Natalie of Niagara Falls, NY) Certo and the Honorable Anthony (Rita of Niagara Falls, NY) Certo.

Mr. Pfleger's family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the nurses and staff of Mt. St. Mary's Hospital's Sixth Floor as well as the staff of the Two West Unit of Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence for their care and compassion.

Visitation will be on Friday from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where a funeral service will be held on Saturday September 28th at 10 a.m. with Rev. Stewart Lindsay, O.S.F. S. officiating. Entombment with Military Honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers donations in Mr. Pfleger's memory may be made to Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence, 5285 Lewiston Road, Lewiston, NY 14092.
