Robert W. "Willy" Sorley, 78, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Saturday, July 19th, 2014 in Schoellkopf Health Care Facility in Niagara Falls. Born in Niagara Falls, Ontario he was the son of the late John and Annice (Brighouse) Sorley.
Willy, as he was known as to his friends and family, attended local schools including Stanford Collegiate Secondary School in Niagara Falls, Ontario. On November 19, 1954 he married his loving wife, Dorothy A. (Banks) Sorley in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Robert later became a United States Citizen in 1960. He was employed at the Buffalo Fuel Corporation, formerly the Santarosa Group as a truck driver for over 30 years until his retirement. Following his retirement, he continued to stay active by working at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida for 12 years. Robert was a longtime, active member of the First United Methodist Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Willy enjoyed gardening, home-improvement and building. He also loved to listen to country music and working craft shows with his wife.
In addition to his wife of 59 years, Robert is survived by his children Brenda (Richard) Coleman, Robert (Bonnie) Sorley, Jr., Barbara Sorley (late Doreen) Slovin, Timothy (Tammy) Sorley and Rebecca (Dominick) Mastrodomenico; his eight grandchildren, Eric (Vanessa) Coleman, Devon (Steven) Ohol, Robert Sorley, Jonathon Sorley, Joshua Sorley, Dominick Mastrodomenico, Abigail Mastrodomenico and Nicholas Mastrodomenico; three great-grandchildren, Skylar Coleman, Ethan Coleman and Lily Coleman; two sisters, Annice (late Daniel) Delaney and Kenneth (late Ruby) Sorley. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Sorley was predeceased by four siblings, Charles Sorley, Jack Sorley, Mary Preece and Harry Sorley.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 21st from 4 – 8 P.M. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Tuesday, July 22nd at 11:00 in First United Methodist Church, 8210 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Pastor Jean Edmister officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. If desired, memorial donations may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY or to Alzheimer's Association of WNY, 2805 Wehrle Drive, Ste. 6, Williamsville, NY 14221 or to a charity of one's choice.
