Robert W. Ungaro, 86, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away Friday November 27, 2009 at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Buffalo, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, he was the son of the late Sam and Mary (Favorite) Ungaro.

Robert attended local schools and graduated from the University at Buffalo in 1954. He had worked as an agent for Metropolitan Life Insurance in Niagara Falls, NY. During World War II he served in the United States Army as Private First Class from February 3, 1943 until his honorable discharge on December 9, 1945. Robert was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing.

Mr. Ungaro is survived by his wife Grace (Morganti) Ungaro; surrogate daughter Judith (Michael) Rielly of North Tonawanda, NY. He was a special grandfather to Michelle Rielly and John (Heather) Rielly. Survivors also include his brother Richard "Chickie" (Audrey) Ungaro of Grand Island, NY; sister-in-laws Mary Lomanto and Helen Morganti and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers Paul (Caroline of Grand Island, NY) Ungaro, Joseph (Susan of Niagara Falls, NY) Ungaro and a sister Fannie (late James) Ryan.

Friends may call Monday 3 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL 2730 MILITARY RD. NIAGARA FALLS where services will begin on Tuesday December 1st at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 27th St. at Independence Ave., Niagara Falls, NY. Interment with military honors in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
