Ronald “Ron” E. Huey, 86, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026, at his residence, surrounded by his family and under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in McIntyre, PA, he was the son of the late Charles and Evelyn C. (Manges) Huey.
Ron was raised in Aultman, PA, and graduated from Laura Lamar High School in Homer City, PA, in 1957. He later attended Erie County Community College, where he studied drafting. Ron proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1963 until his honorable discharge in 1965. On June 3, 1963, he married Dawn M. (Rivers) Huey at Mt. Carmel Church in Niagara Falls, NY.
Ron worked at Nick’s Arco Service Station and later as a supervisor in shipping and receiving at Edwards High Vacuum in Niagara Falls and Grand Island, NY.
He was a longtime member of the American Legion LaSalle Post 1142, the LaSalle Sportsmen’s Club and Elks Lodge No. 346 in Niagara Falls. Ron loved bowling, and played in numerous leagues, participating in tournaments through the years in Rochester, Atlantic City, Las Vegas, and Reno. He was an avid volleyball and baseball player. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and reading. A devoted Buffalo Bills and Sabres fan, Ron cherished time spent with his family above all else.
In addition to his wife of 62 years, Ron is survived by his children, Leeann K. Huey, Dawn Marie (Kevin) Cobello, and Ronald E. Huey II; his grandchildren, Kennedy Huey and Alana Hall; and his sisters, Mary (Jim) Bushman and Kathryn Huey; sisters-in-law Judith (Larry) Volland, Pat (Mike) Barnes and Sharon Rivers. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his siblings, Bertha (late Dave) Norgate, Charles “Ed” (late Joanne, late Marjorie) Huey, Iris (late David) Pearce, and Allen (Jean) Huey and sisters-in-law Marlene (late Sam) Gasbarre, Gail Rivers and brother-in-law Robert “Bob” Rivers.
The family extends a special thank‑you to Niagara Hospice for the compassionate care provided to Ron and his family over the past two years.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 25, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304, where funeral services will begin at 11:30 AM. Ronald’s Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:00 PM at St. Leo’s Church, 2748 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14304, concluding with Military Honors. Internment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Niagara Falls, NY, will be held privately at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094, or to the American Legion LaSalle Post 1142, 8642 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY 14304.
