Obituary

Ronald “Ronnie” L. D’Grillo, 87, of Grand Island, NY, passed away on April 27, 2026 at Buffalo General Hospital. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Anthony and Frances (Calato) D’Grillo.

Ronnie, as he was affectionately known, was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1960 until his honorable discharge in 1964. Following his military service, Ronnie worked as a Union Executive with Laborers Local 91 for 30 years, retiring in 1994.

Ronnie enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved going to the casino, playing cards, betting at OTB and online, and following horse racing and football. In his younger years, he even owned a racehorse. A memorable highlight of his life was participating in the 2008 World Series of Poker. He also appreciated dinners at nice restaurants and cherished every moment spent with family and friends. Ronnie will be remembered as an all‑around good guy, loved by all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 22 years, Karen Salciccioli; his daughters, Marylee Gilchrist, LJ (Greg) Bartle, Nikki (Nick) Bull, and Danielle (Blake) Jamison; his grandchildren, Brittany (Ryan) Michaelsen, Jessica Bartle, Jules Bartle, Ryan Bull, and Averie Bull; and his great‑grandchildren, Mckoy and Gavin Michaelsen. He is also survived by his sisters, Kathleen (late Salvatore “Sam”) Sorce and Toni Shaffer, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 1, from 3–7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14304, where funeral services will follow at 7 PM. Private interment with Military Honors will take place at the convenience of the family in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
