Ronald J. Sdao, 72, of North Tonawanda, NY passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Louis and Leora (Arriana) Sdao.
Ron was a lifelong resident of the Niagara Falls area. He graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1962 and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On September 30, 1967 he married Marie 'Philly' (Trapasso) Sdao in Niagara Falls. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Ron began working at the Carborundum Company. He later entered the apprentice program of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union Local 129 in Niagara Falls with whom he worked for until retiring in early 2000. During that time, Ron served as a member of their Executive Board. Following his retirement, he continued working at David Chevrolet and the Niagara Falls Bridge Commission. Ron was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 77. He was currently serving as their secretary and was especially proud to help his fellow veterans with any needs they might have. Ron was an avid golfer, wine enthusiast and also enjoyed target shooting and photography in his leisure time.
In addition to his wife of forty eight years, Ron is survived by two nieces as well as many beloved friends and cousins.
Visitation will be on Saturday March 12th from 11 – 12:30 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY followed by a funeral service at 12:30 p.m. with Rev. Robert Stolinski officiating. Entombment with Military Honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 101 John James Audubon Parkway, Amherst, NY 14228.
