Ronald C. Smith, 88, formerly of North Tonawanda, NY, passed away at his residence in Niagara Falls, NY under the care of Niagara Hospice.  Born in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of the late Chester E. and Edith May (Crandall) Smith.

Ron lived in the Tonawanda area most of his life.  He served proudly in the United States Navy in the Naval Air Branch from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1954.  On January 29, 1962, he married Helen (Bukovscak) Smith in Canada.  Mrs. Smith predeceased him in 1993.  Ronald was employed as a Carpenter at Union Carbide Corporation for 32 years, retiring in 1988.  He was a 3 ^rd Warder of North Tonawanda.  Ron was an avid Euchre player, playing in several area leagues.  He also enjoyed painting, fishing, and camping.

Ron is survived by his children, Ronald Smith, Jr., Randy (Karen) Smith, Viviann Smith, Valerie (Gary) Sieg, Kimberly (Clint) Hayes, Shelly (Tom) Phan, and Sherri (Mark Deyo) Smith; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; his brother, Charles C. Smith; his companion, Joanne Harms; his sister-in-law, Dorothy (late Bill) Wolf, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his children, Richard Smith and Angela Smith, and his sister, Judith Stittler.
