Rose Marie A. Pyra, 74, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, surrounded by her Angel warriors in St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Niagara Falls, she was the daughter of the late August and Marion (Calipari) Moceri. Rose Marie graduated from Trott Vocational High School where she met the love of her life, James Pyra.

Rose Marie was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of St. Mary of the Cataract Church. She was known as the prayer lady and often prayed for hours every night for so many loving friends and family.

Mrs. Pyra served on several committees for the Boulevard Federal Credit Union. She was also instrumental in the production of the 25th Anniversary commercial for Richard Simmons, and dedicated her life to helping others lose weight.

Rose Marie took great pride in donating the first Christmas Tree to the Seneca Niagara Casino. It was the second largest donated tree in New York State that year. The highlight of the experience came when she attended the dedication with her grandchildren.

Rose Marie was a gifted writer and published a book about Angels with the help of her two grandchildren. Most recently, she was working on a book of poetry and family recipes, inspired by her love to cook and spend time with her family. She was also an avid Elvis fan and learned how to play the guitar at the age of 70.

In addition to her beloved husband of 53 years, Mrs. Pyra is survived by her children, Jim (Kristen) Pyra and Nicole (Robert) Buchholz; her grandchildren, Madison and Bryce Buchholz; one sister, Marguerite (Joseph) Naab, her beloved husky-mix, Rylee; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be on Monday, April 5 from 4 – 8 P.M. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Mrs. Pyra's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 A.M. in St. Mary of the Cataract Church, 237 4th Street, Niagara Falls, NY.
