Obituary
Rose C. (Chiodo) Greco, 89, of Niagara Falls, NY died on Wednesday March 3, 2010. Born in Old Forge, PA she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Theresa (Meranto) Chiodo.
Rose attended school in Old Forge, PA and graduated from Old Forge High School in 1937. On September 28, 1946 she married Dominic F. Greco in Old Forge, PA and in 1947 they came to Niagara Falls where she lived until the present time. Mr. Greco predeceased her on August 28, 2006. During the 1940's she was employed at Bell Aircraft in Wheatfield, NY. She also worked at Tavano's Pharmacy in Niagara Falls, NY and later at the former Sample Shop at the Summit Park Mall in the Audit Department Office until retiring in 1989.
Rose was a member of the Ladies of Charity and a volunteer with the Outreach Program, both at St. Joseph Church. She was active in the Ladies Monday 9 hole golf league at the Hyde Park Golf Course, the Hyde Park Ladies Bocce League and the Ladies Monday Bowling League at the Bowl-O-Drome all in Niagara Falls, NY.
Mrs. Greco is survived by two children John (Patricia) Greco of Newport News, VA and Kathryn (Joseph) Catalano of Grand Island, NY; four grandchildren Andrew Greco, Tyler Greco, Alison Catalano and Courtney Catalano, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two sisters Mary (late Samuel) Christiano and Kathryn (late Anthony) DeFazio and two brothers John (late Bernice) Chiodo and Daniel (Carrie of New Smyrna Beach, FL) Chiodo.
Friends may call on Friday from 3 – 8 p.m. at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where services will begin on Saturday March 6, 2010 at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Stewart Lindsay, O.S.F.S. officiating. Entombment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. If desired, memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr. Lockport, NY 14094 or to the Ladies of Charity at St. Joseph Church.
