Rose K. (Falsetti) Gallo, 88, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Tuesday November 30, 2010 surrounded by her loving family under the care of Niagara Hospice. She married Arthur Gallo, her husband of 65 years, on November 21, 1942 in St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Mr. Gallo passed away on June 23, 2008. Born in Wishaw, PA she was the daughter of the late Gaetano "Guy" and Cora (Bosso) Falsetti.
Rose came to Niagara Falls as a child with her family. She attended Brockport State College following her graduation from Niagara Falls High School. However, instead of continuing her education at that time, she decided to marry and start a family. Many years later, Rose was determined to follow her dream. She graduated from Buffalo State College with a Master of Sciences degree in Education in 1974. After teaching at St. Teresa Parochial School for several years, Rose taught for the Niagara Falls School District and retired after 19 years of service at the age of 69. She was a pioneer for the building of the former 39th Street School. Rose was also the Assistant Director for a WJJL Radio Show and a member of the Gourmet Club, the Niagara Falls Teachers Union and the College Club. But most of all Rose centered her life on her family and always enjoyed attending celebrations.
Rose is survived by five children Kathleen (James) Abbondanza of Lewiston, NY; Michael (Sandra) Gallo of Wheatfield, NY; Janice (David) Reynolds, Janet (Stephen) Godzisz both of Niagara Falls, NY and Deborah (Robert) Kumm of Grand Island, NY; eight grandchildren David Abbondanza, Rachel (Michael) Novelli, James Abbondanza, Steven (Jennifer) Gallo, Jeffrey (Melissa) Gallo, Sean (Theresa) Mort, Gregory (Dana) Mort and Jessica (Daniel) Shvimer, eight great grandchildren Gianna and Maria Novelli, Ronan, Gideon and O'Ren Abbondanza, Mirabella Abbondanza, Dominic Gallo and Justin McKee, five siblings Marie (late Robert) Alexander of Brooklyn, NY; Edward (late Barbara) Falsetti of Lockport, NY; Elizabeth (Anthony) DiChiara of Niagara Falls, NY; Dr. Domonic (Margaret) Falsetti of Lewiston, NY and Dr. Herman (Jan) Falsetti of Laguna Beach, CA and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by one brother Joseph (late Elma) Falsetti. She also leaves behind her beloved cat, Tuffy.
Friends may call on Friday from 3:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday December 4th at 10:00 AM at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Stewart Lindsay, OSFS officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
