Rose M. (Sozio) Panfili, 92, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY, died on Monday November 28, 2011 at Elderwood Health Care at Crestwood in Wheatfield, NY. Born in Hoboken, NJ she was the daughter of the late Sylvester and Madeline (Gentile) Sozio.

On July 13, 1946, Rose married Pasquale 'Pat' L. Panfili in Niagara Falls, NY. Mr. Panfili predeceased her on November 21, 2004. Rose was an active member of the former Sacred Heart Church in Niagara Falls and when her children were young she actively supported their Parent Teachers Association (PTA). Rose liked singing and reading biographies of political figures but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Panfili is survived by two daughters MaryAnn T. (James P.) Panfili-Villar of Arcade, NY and Patricia L. (Christopher) Barone of the Town of Wheatfield, NY; two grandchildren Christopher Pasquale Barone and Emily Rose Barone, several nieces, nephews and her dear friend Bessie Judd. She was predeceased by three brothers Dr. Lawrence (late Angelus) Sozio, Nicholas (late Ann) Sozio, Anthony (late Rose) Sozio and one sister Rachel (late Cosmo) Barone.

Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Thursday December 1st at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Vincent DePaul Parish at St. Leo's Church, 2748 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. If desired donations in Mrs. Panfili's name may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
