Rose M. (Donoughe) Reece, 89, of Niagara Falls, NY, went to be with Our Lord on May 20, 2019, at Schoellkopf Health Care Center in Niagara Falls. Born in Gallitzin, PA on February 1, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Anthony P. and Christina (McMahon) Donoughe.
Rose was raised in Pennsylvania and came to Niagara Falls with her family in 1945. She married Lloyd J. Reece in 1949. In 1974, she earned her nursing degree from Niagara County Community College. Rose worked in various fields of nursing for over 20 years, including her time as a registered nurse for Dr. Hee K. Choi in Niagara Falls. She was a member of the Hyde Park Presbyterian Church and Pierce Avenue Presbyterian Church serving as a Deacon, and was also active in their school programs. In June of 2005, after both churches closed, she became a member of St. James United Methodist Church.
Rose was the mother to 8 children, and considered raising them her most important and fulfilling career. She will always be remembered for her legendary Christmas Eve Parties, and will be forever loved by her family and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Ronald Clarke and his nurses, the 1 st Floor staff at Schoellkopf Health Care Center and Sister-In-Law Eleanor (late George) Reece for their comfort, support and excellent care given to Rose.
Rose is survived by five sons, John (Patti Scalzo) Reece, William (Joanne) Reece, David (Shirley) Reece, Mick (Cheryl Madrona) Reece, and James (Dianna) Reece; two daughters, Sandra (David) Colucci and Kathleen (Mark) English; son-in-law William Loncto; three brothers, Donald (Judy) Donoughe, Harold (Janet) Donoughe, and Robert (Mary) Donoughe; two sisters, Mary Ellen (Terry) Jackson and Joan Ferlito, as well as 16 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter, Patricia Coty Loncto; sisters Kathleen Gematti, Anna Costanzo, and Marilyn Hall; brothers, Anthony Jr., Mark and Elliott Donoughe; her former husband, Lloyd J. Reece and her former son-in-law Larry Coty.
There will be no prior visitation. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 28 at 11 A.M. at St. James United Methodist Church, 4661 Porter Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14305.
