Rose (Calzona) Viola, 88, of Lewiston, NY formerly of Niagara Falls, NY died on Thursday May 13, 2010 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY. Born in Amantea, Italy she was the daughter of the late Arturo and Carolina (Furgiuele) Calzona.

Rose was educated in Italy. In October 1947 she married Pasquale "Patsy" Viola in Calabria, Italy and following their marriage they immigrated to the United States and settled in Niagara Falls, NY. Mr. Viola predeceased her on August 6, 2002. Rose was an avid reader of history and current events in both English and Italian. She also enjoyed knitting sweaters, some of which were sold by a boutique store in California. Most of all she was dedicated to her family and she especially enjoyed cooking for them.

Mrs. Viola is survived by three sons Robert (Barbara) Viola of Lewiston, NY; Anthony (Andrea) Viola of Long Beach, CA and Carl (Lori) Viola of Los Alamitos, CA; six grandchildren Lauren, Robert, Brooke, Michael, David and Ashley; one brother Francesco (late Elsa) Calzona of Italy and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one sister Vera Bacconi and one brother Alfredo Calzona.

Friends may call on Sunday from 3 – 7 p.m. at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Monday May 17th at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 27th Street and Independence Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Samuel Venne officiating. Entombment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
