Yocco, Rose Frances DiLeonardo In her 100th year, passed from three generations loving her into the hands of our Blessed Lord God and all those waiting to hold her again, on this day, July 4th, 2012 at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville KY.
Born on February 11, 1913, to parents Rose and Frank DiLeonardo, immigrants to Niagara Falls, NY from Sicily and one of seven children, Rose was the last to carry on their family legacy. All her brothers and sisters and their spouses: Charles (Lena) DiLeonardo, Samuel (Josephine) DiLeonardo, Nancy Lucy (Russell) Previte, Mary DiLeonardo, Joseph (Sarah) DiLeonardo, and Ann (Samuel) Behers are reunited with her gentle spirit.
Rose was married for 27 years to Andrew Stephen Yocco until 1964 when he went to prepare their eternal home.
Her only treasured daughter Carmeleen and recently deceased son-in-law Robert Dabney made her home here for many years. Having the honor of her presence, Rose loved and taught by example her many life experiences to her only granddaughter Melani and adored her grandson-in-law Christopher. Noah Andrew, her only great-grandchild, is the love of her life that she lived for everyday. As he does for her.
A proper lady and ultimate homemaker, she filled her life with what she loved: praying, hand-working, cooking, baking, gardening, reading, and bird watching. Her family's comfort was her most precious reward. Three generations for half her life and four generation for over fifteen years, tending her hearth with determination and tender care gave Rose purpose that became inspiration to all. Always positive and kind, her wisdom spread to all who entered her home. Also, left to honor her memory are a sister-in-law, cousin, nieces, nephews, and many friends or "chosen family" from the many cities that her family called home.
Special Blessings to all her caretaking and medical angels who blessed her with great love and compassion, especially India Moore, who will forever be a part of this family.
The secret to her longevity was that she lived in God's will praying for each of her beloved faithfully and the simple life statement "Love accomplishes everything!" We cherish each moment of her beautiful century, Rose's long happy life.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Committal Service on Wednesday July 11th at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Cemetery, 3806 Pine Avenue Niagara Falls, NY.
