Rudolph 'Rudy' F. Maida, 73, of Lewiston, NY passed away on December 7, 2013 at Buffalo General Hospital in Buffalo, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Frank and Gina (Isola) Maida.

Rudy attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. He later attended Niagara County Community College and obtained his Bachelor's Degree from the University at Buffalo. He was employed as a public health sanitarian for the Niagara County Health Department for over 38 years until his retirement. Rudy currently volunteered his time as a receptionist in the Emergency Room at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY. He was a former president of the Hyde Park Babe Ruth Baseball League and member of the Cristoforo Colombo Society both located in Niagara Falls, NY. Rudy enjoyed spending time with his loving friends and family at Jonfrey's and Gagster's Restaurant both located in Niagara Falls, NY. He was an avid card player and loved being with his grandchildren. Above all, Rudy will be remembered as a joyful and caring man with an unforgettable personality.

Mr. Maida is survived by his children, Adrienne Maida of the Town of Niagara, NY and Frank Maida (Amy Martinucci) of Niagara Falls, NY, Russell Shull of Lockport, NY and Crystal (Jason) Shull-Klein of Niagara Falls, NY; four grandchildren, Ayden Matthew, Ashtyn Evan, Andrew Nicholas Thomas and Mark Anthony; two sisters, Lena (Aiello) Phillip of Niagara Falls, Ontario and Mary Maida of Niagara Falls, NY; his nieces, Giulia (Gary) Bittle, Andrea (Larry) Smith, Gina Aiello, and nephew, Stanley Aiello. He is also survived by several other nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 9th from 4 – 9:00 P.M. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14304. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 10th at 12 Noon in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Ave. Niagara Falls, NY, with Rev. Stewart Lindsay, O.S.F.S., officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Entombment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
