Ruth J. (Turczynski) Klizek, 89, of Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY, formerly of 25th Street in Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Monday June 8, 2009 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mary (Paczynski) Turczynski.

Ruth attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. During World War II, Ruth was an Air Raid Warden, and American Red Cross volunteer, known as a "Gray Lady" at the original St. Mary's Hospital in Niagara Falls, as well as at Ft. Niagara in Youngstown, NY where she tended to soldiers and German prisoners. On September 10, 1949 she married Stanley J. Klizek at Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Niagara Falls. Ruth was employed as a secretary at the former Kimberly Clark Corporation in Niagara Falls where she developed and maintained lasting friendships to this very day. She was later employed as a secretary at the Cerebral Palsy Clinic located at Niagara Street School in Niagara Falls until her retirement in the early 1970's.

Ruth was a longtime and active parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Niagara Falls, where she was a member of their Women's Guild and Senior Club. She was also a member of the senior clubs at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church and John Duke Center in Niagara Falls. Ruth was an excellent cook, and renowned for her pork chops and rum cake. In her leisure time she also enjoyed traveling, dancing and attending craft clubs, particularly with Niagara Cooperative Extension.

In addition to her husband of nearly sixty years, Ruth is survived by her two sons, Dr. Ronald D. (Denise L.) Klizek of Lakewood, NY and Rev. Duane R. Klizek, Pastor of Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish, Niagara Falls, NY, two grandchildren, Matthew D. Klizek and Emily A. Klizek, one sister Lottie (late John) Tracinski of Florida and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by one sister Irene (Michael of Florida) Michaels.

Friends may call on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI AND SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL 2730 MILITARY ROAD NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Friday June 12th at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 27th Street and Independence Ave. Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Duane R. Klizek officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery Lewiston, NY.
