Ruth R. (Riordan) Stone, 70, of Niagara Falls, NY died on Thursday, December 5, 2013. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Dennis and Clara Riordan.

Ruth attended local schools and continued her education at Niagara University where she was an undergraduate and earned a Masters Degree in Education. She married her high school sweetheart, United States Air Force 2nd Lt. Robert A. Stone, during the Vietnam War on June 11, 1966 at St. Teresa's R.C. Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Ruth was employed as a social worker for Erie County Department of Social Services. She also worked as an educator at the First Mendel River School System in Charleston, SC. Ruth later became a substitute teacher for the Niagara Falls Board of Education and a manager at NIACAP (Niagara Community Action Program, Inc.) in Niagara Falls.

In addition to her husband of forty seven years, Ruth is survived by two sons Robert A. (late Rebecca) Stone of Grand Island, NY and Dennis C. (Maria) Stone of Chicago, IL and three grandsons Elliott, Oscar and Riordan.

Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday December 11th at Niagara University Alumni Chapel, 5795 Lewiston Road, Niagara University, NY. Interment in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers donations in Ruth's memory may be made to Niagara University, 5795 Lewiston Road, Niagara University, NY 14109.
