Salvatore "Sam" Pascucci, 85, of Wheatfield, NY and formerly of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 22nd 2015, surrounded by his loving family in the comfort of his home. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Martha (Bianco) Pascucci formerly of Castania, Calabria, Italy.

Salvatore was a member of the Trott Vocational High School football team until his graduation in 1950. He continued to play football for the North End Merchants in Niagara Falls, NY and also at the semi-professional level in St. Catharine's, Ontario. During the Korean War, Salvatore served in the United States Navy until his honorable discharge on December 16, 1954. On August 5, 1961, he married his loving wife, Yolanda Pascucci, at the former Sacred Heart Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Sam, as he was known by his family and friends, was employed at the former Hooker Chemical Company, later known as Occidental Chemical Corp. for 42 years until his retirement in 1990.


Salvatore was a devout Catholic and longtime, former member of St. Joseph's Church and Mt. Carmel Church. He was also a member of the Embassy Club located in Niagara Falls. Sam was an avid sports fan of the Buffalo Bills and New York Yankees, as well as a talented athlete throughout his life. He was a member of the Hooker Chemical Company basketball team where he competed in the industrial leagues throughout Western New York. He also participated in bowling, golfing, bocce and horseshoes. Above all, Salvatore loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife of 54 years, Mr. Pascucci is survived by his two sons, Gary (Cecelia) Pascucci of Depew, NY and Daniel Pascucci of Wheatfield, NY; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Anna Pascucci; two siblings Mary (Joseph) Forcucci of Florida and Russell (late Phyllis) Pascucci of Niagara Falls. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Salvatore was predeceased by four sisters, Jennie (late Charles) Chiodo, Nellie (late Carmen) Previte, Rose (late Nicholas) Pusateri, Yolanda (James of Niagara Falls) Sorta and one brother, Angelo (late Mary) Pascuzzi.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 24th from 4 – 8 P.M. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin on Saturday, July 25th at 9:15 A.M., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary & Joseph Parish at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 27th Street and Independence Ave., Niagara Falls, NY, with Rev. Stewart Lindsay, O.S.F.S officiating. Interment with Military Honors will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
