Salvatore J. “Sam” Sorce, 91, of Buffalo, NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Hospice & Palliative Care Buffalo after a lengthy illness.

Born and raised in Buffalo, Sam was the son of the late Joseph and Josephine (Filippello) Sorce. He graduated from Hutch-Tech High School and went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree from the University at Buffalo in industrial engineering. Sam proudly served in the United States Army until his honorable discharge in 1959.

On July 8, 1967, Sam married the love of his life, Kathleen (D’Grillo) Sorce at Our Lady of Lebanon Church. Together they made their home in Niagara Falls, where Sam worked for Union Carbide while they raised their two daughters. He later continued his career at Bush Industries in Jamestown, NY.

An avid outdoorsman, Sam found joy in camping, boating, and fishing. He especially cherished the years he and Kay spent living on Chautauqua Lake. They also enjoyed many winters in Punta Gorda, FL before eventually returning to Buffalo.

Sam will be remembered for his devotion to family, his steady work ethic, and the quiet, genuine warmth he brought to those around him.

In addition to his wife of 58 years, Sam is survived by their two daughters, Maria Sorce and Kathleen Sorce; his sisters-in-law, Frances Sorce, Carol Sorce, Doreen Sorce and Toni Shafffer and brother-in-law, Ronald D’Grillo, as well as several loving nieces and nephews. 

He was predeceased by his siblings, Vincent (Frances) Sorce, Frank (late Josephine) Sorce, Russell (Carol) Sorce and Peter (Doreen) Sorce.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 29 from 2 – 5 PM at M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Sam’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 30 at 12 Noon in St. Rose of Lima Church, 500 Parker Ave, Buffalo, NY 14216. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY will be held at a later date. Memorial offerings may be made to Hospice Buffalo at hospicebuffalo.com.
