Shannon Peters, 28, of Grand Island, NY passed away unexpectedly Monday January 2, 2012 at Kenmore Mercy Hospital in Town of Tonawanda, NY. Born in North Tonawanda, NY she was the daughter of Sherry (Barr) Peters of Grand Island, NY and Daniel Peters of Kenmore, NY.

Shannon was a graduate of SUNY Fredonia where she received her Bachelor Degree in Music. She was also a graduate of Medaille College in Buffalo, NY where she earned her Master's Degree in Elementary Education, and was planning to enroll for her Master's in Special Education. She loved to work with children and enjoyed teaching. While attending college she worked as a catering manager for Famous Dave's Barbeque in Cheektowaga, NY. Shannon was also a talented musician and was honored to play taps at local Veteran services. She also loved animals and her love of her life was her puppy, "Delilah".

In addition to her parents, Shannon is survived by her sister, Alexandra Peters of Grand Island, NY; grandparents John and Mary Barr of Town of Niagara and her best friend Susan Massena of Geneseo, NY.

Visitation will be held on Saturday January 7th from 1 – 3PM at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL 2730 MILITARY RD NIAGARA FALLS, NY where a Memorial Service will immediately follow at 3:00PM with Rev. Patrick Fleming officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the SPCA Serving Erie County, 205 Ensminger Rd. Tonawanda, NY 14150 or the Shannon Mary Peters Memorial Scholarship Fund at any First Niagara Branch.
