Obituary

Sharon K. Cooper, 83, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by the love of her family while under the care of Niagara Hospice.

Born in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Joseph O'Leary and Alice (Krzyzanowski) Clark, and the stepdaughter of the late Glendon Clark. Raised in Ontario, Sharon was a graduate of Loretta Academy and received her Registered Nursing license from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Hamilton, Ontario. She began her nursing career at Greater Niagara General Hospital, embarking on a profession that reflected her compassionate and caring nature.

On October 16, 1971, Sharon married the love of her life, John "Jack" G. Cooper, at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church. Jack's trucking career brought the couple, along with their infant daughter, Erin, to the United States in 1972, where they made their home in the Town of Niagara and built a lifetime of cherished memories together.

Sharon's distinguished nursing career spanned several decades, serving patients and residents at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, St. Mary's Manor, and Northgate Health Care Facility, where she worked for many years before her retirement. Whether caring for patients, friends, neighbors, or family members, Sharon possessed a natural gift for helping others and always put the needs of others before her own.

Proud of her Irish heritage and deeply devoted to her Catholic faith, Sharon was a longtime member of St. Leo's Church. She was also an active member of the ISDA Valore Lodge #269 for many years.

Sharon found great joy in tending to her gardens and caring for her home. A wonderful neighbor and friend, she was always willing to lend a helping hand, whether that meant clearing snow from a driveway or assisting others with projects around their homes. Her kindness and generosity left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Known for her beauty and impeccable appearance, Sharon rarely stepped out the door without her hair perfectly styled and her makeup carefully applied. Her beloved hot rollers were a permanent fixture and may very well have deserved honorary family-member status.

Above all else, Sharon treasured her family. She embraced her role as a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, and adoring great-grandmother. She especially cherished helping to raise her grandsons, Bradley and Brett, who were truly her pride and joy. Most recently, she found immense happiness in sharing the first year of her great-granddaughter Layla's life, delighting in every milestone and watching her blossom.

Her love will be deeply missed but never forgotten by her daughter, Erin K. McClure; her grandsons, Bradley (Desiree Farley) McClure and Brett (Jean Hanson) McClure; her great-granddaughter, Layla Rae McClure; her sister, Colleen (the late Ronald) Gallen; her niece, Amber Gallen; her nephew, Glendon Gallen; as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

In addition to her parents and stepfather, Sharon was predeceased by her beloved husband, John "Jack" G. Cooper, on May 28, 2012. It gives her family great comfort to know that they are all reunited once again.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 7, from 11 - 12 Noon at M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin at 12 Noon. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. Visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com for online condolences.
