Sharon E. Smith, 67, of Youngstown, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by her beloved family on Wednesday, January 20 in Niagara Hospice House, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Cardiff, Wales, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Alfreda (Portlock) Lovell.

Sharon came to the United States on the RMS Queen Elizabeth with her parents as a child. She attended local schools and graduated from Lewiston-Porter High School. On October 20, 1973, she married the love of her life, Albert F. Smith at the Youngstown Presbyterian Church.

Sharon began working at the Bickford Box Company and Voyager Custom Products both in Sanborn, NY. She was also employed by the Lewiston-Porter School District as a lunch lady and later retired from Delphi after several years of dedicated service.

Sharon was a longtime member of the Youngstown Garden Club and also enjoyed tending to the beautiful gardens of her own. She was an avid book reader and loved going fishing, as well as camping, especially to the 1000 Islands. Sharon was the nucleus of the family, who enjoyed hosting parties during the holidays. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her loving family and friends, who will miss her greatly.

In addition to her husband of 47 years, she is survived by her son, Jonathan (Danielle) Smith, two cherished grandchildren, Avery and Olivia Smith; one brother, Steven Lovell and her aunt, Rita (late Vern) Wingo.

Sharon's family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Komin, the staff of Niagara Hospice House and Roswell Park Cancer Institute, and all of Sharon's dear friends, for their compassion and care during Sharon's time of need.

Visitation will be on Monday, January 25 from 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 P.M. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY.
