Silvio Flori, 88, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on February 3, 2022 at Northgate Health Care Facility in North Tonawanda, NY. Born in Prata d'Ansidonia, Abruzzo, Italy, he was the son of the late Arturo and Barbara (DiFabio) Flori.
Silvio came to the United States in 1950. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1955, and was later discharged from the Reserves in 1961. He received several medals including the National Defense Medal, the Limited United Nations Medal and the Sharpshooting Medal. Silvio was employed as a chemical operator for Occidental Chemical Corporation in Niagara Falls for over 30 years. He was an active member of St. Joseph Church. Silvio enjoyed gardening, tending to his fig trees, and betting on the horses at the OTB. In his younger years, he enjoyed bowling.
Silvio is survived by his children, Sandy Church and Robert (Susan) Reeves ; his grandson, Jae Church; his sister, Ada (late John) Casillio, as well as by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary (Tulino) Flori, his second wife, Alice Korut, and his daughter, Susan (Tim) LaGray.
Silvio's Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 9 at 10 AM at Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY 14301. Interment with Military Honors in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
