Simone S. (Jovinel) Jansen, 87, of Lockport, NY passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Eastern Niagara Hospital in Lockport, NY. Born in Caen, France she was the daughter of the late Jules and Louise "Memere" (Gosselin) Jovinel.

Simone was raised and educated in France. During World War II she married Gerald B. Jansen, Sr. in Caen, France. Following the end of the war she and Gerald came to the United States and settled in Lockport where she lived until the present time. Mr. Jansen predeceased her in August of 1989. Simone was a gifted seamstress who worked at Lerch and Daly Clothiers in Lockport, NY for many years until she retired. Following her retirement she continued to do seamstress work at her home up until her eyesight failed. She also babysat numerous children from the Lockport area.

Following her move to Lockport, she and other French war brides became lifelong loving friends who liked to attend social gatherings together. Simone also enjoyed going to Eagle's Club parties with her husband. Following the passing of her husband, she traveled to various places with her children. Simone's favorite pastimes included crocheting, completing word puzzles, gardening and going out to dinner. She also had a passion for animals and especially loved her bulldog LuLubelle who recently passed away in October.

Simone is survived by five children Nadine (Donald) Allen, Michelle Rott, Kim (John) Jones, Suzanne (David) McAllister and Gerald (Michelle) Jansen, Jr. all of Lockport, NY grandchildren; Scott (Rebecca) Allen, Stacey (Michael) Goerss, Jennifer Schaffert, Marybeth (Juan) Roman, Jonathan Jones, Breanne (Bruno) Greene, Michael Stubbs and Gerald "JJ" B. Jansen, III. Great grandchildren; Jackolyn, Christian, Devin, Bryce, Madeline, Sidney, Lucas, Danica, Alivia, Noah and Avalon. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and a cousin residing in France.

There will be no prior visitation. A private funeral service and interment in Glenwood Cemetery, Lockport, NY will be held at the convenience of the family.
